i've had bison on the brain lately, no doubt due to the number of days I spent at the National Bison Range this year. During one of the more thrilling outings I was able to watch herds of bison on the run - what a dramatic and ground-shaking experience! This painting grew out of that autumn morning's fieldwork; my deepest desire was to create the same sense of noise, dust, and awe that I felt while watching this stirring scene.
